Clean grooves + …
Clean grooves + clean downward impact + ’spinny’ ball = spin. The trick is developing a downswing move that puts the hands forward at impact with a tight clubhead arc.

Expert Village is …
Expert Village is full of Village Idiots. Their advice is the WORST I’ve ever heard. Rule of thumb: If they say something, just do the opposite and you’ll be fine.

i get backspin with …
i get backspin with range balls at the range… you just need to hit down on it and et square grooves, i like the vokey 56 only thing is it rips the ball up. After hitting and getting spin i had pieces of the ball in the grooves. club head speed- 100-110 mph

Also, your grooves …
Also, your grooves can’t be caked up with mud. Always clean your grooves. You know how many times I see guys play a round and not clean their clubs after a shot. Then they ask me how I spun the ball.

So it still seems to make sense that when coming through I need to hit the ball before making any contact with the ground… How can I find out my swing speed though?

Pro V1X ftw with …
Pro V1X ftw with spin, the softer the cover on the ball the more grip you will get on the ball hence the more spin you will create. if you rub two brand new prov1x’s together you can tell how much grip the ball has hence the more spin you can get. Plus it helps if you have square grooved faces. it is difficult to practice putting spin on a ball at the range because the texture of the balls will be to smooth.

for all those people out there who actually think thats all you need…well you’re wrong! I have a very high swing speed an generate a lot of spin. however I cant spin balls like the Top flite…(not that I use them) I use a callaway Tour I with with a cleveland CG 12 wedge. you DO need to have at least a softer cover on the ball and than try this tip.
