I am working for tips for the first time what should i keep in mind and/or consider?

I will be working at a golf course as the beverage cart girl and sometimes at the bar when they need help. I know about being friendly remembering names being attentive but if you have worked in the industry or related industry for tips what are some tricks of the trade so to speak that could really help.

I was the cart girl my senior year of high school and the money was great. There are a lot of dirty old men who will like to flirt with the pretty, young cart girl, it’s gross but just smile and be sweet to them, they will tip great if you just go along with it. You will learn quick who the regulars are and which of them tip the best, make sure you get to them often because they are going to want a drink with them at all times and get kind of irritated if they have to wait. Also you could get some weird requests, one time a group of two drunk guys asked me to putt for them every time I came around so I did, when you talk to them and have a good time with them they tip better. Last but not least, when people are hitting make sure you stop the cart, don’t drive past them or around them while they hit because they will get mad!

    Smile, Smile, Smile!!! It makes everyone’s day. Also, make small conversation with the person your serving, keep it simple. Basically treat them how you would want to be treated by a server and be happy! Even if your feeling crappy some days, fake it! Bring out your acting skills, but also be genuine. You’ll learn what works and what doesn’t. Good luck!

    Get them to like you at the bar…then they’ll tip you bigger elsewhere. Maybe they’ll request to the management that you be at the bar more.
